Dr David John Davies
Chairman
Dr David Davies is one of the founding members of EduCan International Ltd. He is an international education and training professional who has held senior positions with both Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment. He has been Director of Stakeholder Relations for Pearson Edexcel international qualifications and Global Manager, Higher Education and Workplace, for Cambridge Assessment. He is also an Ofsted Inspector for state and independent schools in the UK and a Lead Examiner for Tribal/Abu Dhabi Education Council in the United Arab Emirates.
As part of his professional work, David has worked extensively in a wide range of countries including Bangladesh, India, United Arab Emirates, United States, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Egypt etc. His work has involved the promotion of Edexcel and Cambridge.
Shahin Reza
Chief Consultant
Shahin Reza is an MBA with over 25 years of experience to promote international qualifications in Bangladesh and wider South Asia region. His experience includes working with British Council, Pearson/Edexcel, Cambridge Assessment International Education under the University of Cambridge and EduCan International. His contributions for widening the international qualifications market in the region is widely recognised by the stakeholders.
In his role with EduCan International he had the opportunity to work with various ministries and government departments of Bangladesh. He has also been involved in various flagship education ventures in Bangladesh and has been working closely with some of the top international education brands to enter/ expand their business activities in Bangladesh market such as Cambridge University Press, Cambridge Assessment English, The Open University UK, Putra Business School, OET (Occupational English Test), etc.
Leon Walker
Director – Training
With 25 years of experience as educator, trainer in the UK and internationally, Mr Leon Walker is an International education and training expert. He specialises in teacher training, school improvement, curriculum design and assessment. He is a creative thinker committed to developing an evidence based system for school improvement.
Leon has experience as Deputy Headteacher and Director of research at one of the EEF’s Research Schools and has contributed to national consultations addressing workload, effective assessment and pupil premium funding.
As an International education expert and trainer, he specialises in effective leadership and management at all levels, developing outstanding learning and teaching, supporting vulnerable learner groups – inclusion and behaviour, pupil premium, exceptionally able – school development, independent learning, outstanding assessment practice and data, performance management, positive behaviour intervention, policy and practice; and restorative justice, online and blended learning.
Leon appeared in the EEF review of marking, ‘A marked improvement’, and co-developed the largest national trial into feedback and marking in English, FLASH Marking. His logic model was used as an exemplar in the implementation guidance report now used extensively by system leaders across the country.
Major Md Sarwar Murshed (Retd)
Director – Business Development
Major Md Sarwar Murshed served Bangladesh Army for 30 years in various capacities in home and abroad. He is a self-motivated individual with longstanding experience of working in administration, research, operations, logistics and management positions. He served with sincerity and devotion in various strategic and important roles of Bangladesh Army, such as, General Staff Officer (Grade-2), Coordination in Signal Training Center School, Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master General of Headquarter 86 Independent Signal Brigade, Commanding Officer of Military Police Unit, General Staff Officer (Grade-2) in Army Headquarter and Border Guard Bangladesh, Sector Provost Marshall in UN Mission in DR Congo.
Major Murshed joined EduCan International Ltd as the Director – Business Development in August 2022 after his retirement from Bangladesh Army.
Janie Ng
Director – International Collaboration
Janie Ng graduated from the University of Wolverhampton and has over 15 years of experience with the promotion, management and quality assurance of international qualifications in the Asia Pacific region. She has worked with some of the world’s leading educational organisations such as Edexcel, Pearson Education, City and Guilds, etc. She is based in Malaysia and has been involved with EduCan International since the inception of the company.
Khairun Nahar
Director – Finance and Administration
Khairun Nahar has a postgraduate degree in accounting and finance. She is one of founding directors of EduCan Internatonal. Prior to joining EduCan she was in teaching for a several years.
Mahbubur Rahman Sohel
Chief Operating Officer
Mahbubur Rahman is a highly experienced international education management professional with more than 20 years of experience with some of the reputed educational brands of Bangladesh. After completing his MSc in Physics he started his career with the International School Dhaka (ISD) and subsequently he worked with American International School Dhaka (AISD), and DPS STS School Dhaka in various capacities. His specialization includes assessment management, integration of technology in assessment, quality assurance, teacher training, stakeholders management and customer care.
Imona Islam
Manager – Operations
Imona Islam is a highly committed individual specialised in operations management. She brings over 13 years of experience in general administration and human resources management, including 12 years at Prime Bank Foundation, the CSR wing of Prime Bank PLC, where she was responsible for HR operations, administration, and procurement. Prior to her role at Prime Bank Foundation, Imona served as an Invigilator at the British Council. She holds both a Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and a Master of Social Science (MSS) from Jahangirnagar University, in addition she attended various professional development training. Imona has extensive experience in compliance and a strong commitment to operational excellence.
Iffat Tasnim Amin
Manager – Learning and Development
Iffat Tasnim Amin is an experienced professional in the edutech industry, with over 7 years of diverse experience working in national and international companies. She is Manager, Learning & Development at EduCan International Ltd. Iffat completed her undergraduate degree from the University of London and her postgraduate degree from a prominent Bangladeshi university. Her expertise lies in business development, client relationships, and a focus on creating services for other businesses and organisation’s. She is also involved in Cambridge Assessment English and other international assessment solutions for creating new markets, establishing strategic alliances, improving digital skills, and investing in research and development. Iffat is known for her excellent communication skills and takes pride in her work.
Ariful Islam
Manager – Business Development and Marketing
After the graduation in marketing from a UK university Ariful Islam started his career as an international education counselor. He has worked with a number of international educational institutions in business development and market.
Erik Adnan
Manager – Business Support
A scrupulous administrative executive carrying out the role of Business Support Manager for EduCan International Ltd., the country’s leading professional education advisory fulcrum since 2016. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his dedication and devotion to his work, having served in well-known organisation’s in the education and client service industries. He earned Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Communication Engineering discipline from an acclaimed private university in Bangladesh.
Md. Rezaul Karim
Business Development Officer
Md. Rezaul Karim is a skilled Business Development Officer at EduCan International Ltd. With his expertise in client relationships and creative works, he has made a significant contribution to the organisation’s growth and success. He graduated from National University. He is an eager and committed individual who is dedicated to producing great outcomes in the organisation’s business development division.
Rashique Ahmed Imtiaz
Executive – Business Support
Rashique Ahmed graduated from North south University and joined EduCan International as an Executive Business Support in 2023. He Shows dedication and commitment through his work and support for his team mates. Rashique has excellent customer service orientation and is willing to go extra miles for customers.
Habibur Rahman
Office Assistant
Habibur Rahman is an experienced Office Assistant. He has joined EduCan International since the inception of the company.
